The enormity of destruction is overwhelming when nature's power is unleashed. Once I walked on hardened lava that had simply erased all vegetation in its path, but at the edge were tiny volunteer plants that had begun the process of renewal. The approaching darkness of winter will be very difficult for New Englanders in conditions much like the aftermath of wartime destruction and so they will be in our prayers. It's a ways from the promise of renewal that spring will bring to the land, but as life teaches (and reteaches) us, every single moment is precious.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Beth. Sometimes it takes a lifetime to realize that there is usually a reason behind anyone's 'crabbiness' and a little bit of compassion goes a long way. Life is a learning process through trials and tribulations and my faith believes that all things happen for a reason. Thanks for this post!

Hi Beth, I'm just now settling down after a busy summer of running around, and decided it was time to catch up on things I've missed. You've been in my thoughts and continue to be so. It's so like you to find compassion for others from the suffering you're going through. You continue to be an inspiration. Hugs!

Oh, Beth. I'm so sorry you are going through a hard time. Yes, suffering is part of life, but be on the lookout for the joy and laughter that make up the other part. It will come. Hugs to you.
