Hi Margaret! SO nice to hear from you. Thanks for your kind words about my header. A silent retreat sounds wonderful! Enjoy! And I like your comment about using a ribbon on the inside of the buttonband. I remember sweaters being made in that way long ago. Congrats on your blue ribbon!

Beth, I'm always drawn to the photo you use as a header, you in your green sweater, with a knitting project in your hands. It speaks volumes about the work you do and share with us. I'm so sorry to miss your class this coming weekend at Aylin's Woolgatherer; my excuse is that I'll be attending a silent retreat. Be assured I will pray for you and for all present, that your yarns be luscious, your time together inspiring and collegial, and your knitted projects pleasing. Lastly, what an excellent article in your current newsletter, about sewing buttons on sweaters! I use these techniques myself. A variation was the time I basted a satin ribbon on the inside of the button placket, to provide a sturdy and pretty backing for the buttons. The vest I did this on won a blue ribbon at the county fair, and the judge noted that she "loved" the ribbon.
