Description
This easy child’s gansey is knitted in worsted weight yarn. The garment includes horizontal patterning and simple shoulder extensions, seam stitches, bisected underarm gussets, and ribbed cuff, neckband, bottom edge. It is knitted the round from the cast-on to the underarm, then knitted flat in the upper body to the shoulders. Once the shoulders are joined, the sleeves are picked up and knitted down to the cuffs. Materials
- Yarn: 400 (400, 550, 550, 700) yards of Aran weight or heavy worsted weight wool OR 1 (2, 2, 3, 4) 4 oz. skeins of Brown Sheep worsted weight wool (190 yds/ skein).
- Needles: U.S. 5 and 8 (3.5 and 5-mm) double-pointed and 16-inch (40-cm) circular needles. You may use 24-inch (60-cm) circular needles in the larger sizes. Adjust needle size to obtain gauge below.
