Description
Level Intermediate. Five sizes (child to large man). Fair Isle socks in autumn colors-rust, olive, light and dark brown, plum (5 colors in all) or in as few as two colors. The patterning is comprised of easy four stitch repeat peerie patterns with a corrugated ribbing heel flap. The toe is worked in the solid main color. The gauge is 7 stitches/inch.
Featured Techniques: Double Cast-On, Knitting (and purling) with a yarn in each hand, Corrugated Ribbing, The Wide (6 stitch) Toe, Kitchener Stitch.
Sizes: Small (child), Medium (large child/small woman), Large (medium woman), Extra Large (man)
Materials
- Yarn: 100g skeins of Guernsey or sport weight yarn (246 yds/skein) for a heavier sock OR 100g skeins of sock yarn or fingering weight yarn for a lighter sock.
- In two colors: Main Color (MC): 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) skeins; Contrast Color: (CC): 1 skein
- In five colors: Main Color (MC): 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) skeins; Approximately 1/2 oz. each of five other colors. (I used Rust for MC, brown, plum, olive, and taupe for CC.)
- Needles: US size 2 (2.75 mm) double pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
