Toasty Twined Gloves Pattern

$8.00

These Twined Knitted (or Two-End) Gloves are made with the Swedish technique Tvåändsstickning, which developed in Sweden around the 17th century in the Dalarna region. By utilizing a yarn from each end of the ball and using the yarns to work alternate stitches, a thick, warm fabric with embossed motifs can be made.

Description

This design first appeared in Interweave’s Knitting Traditions Magazine in the Fall of 2011 and it can be knitted in worsted weight or DK weight yarn.  The pattern includes many techniques, such as a Twined Knitting cast-on with photos, and numerous Technique Boxes:  Yarn Management, Twined Knitting, Twined Purling, the Basic Units of Design: the crook stitch, the “O” stitch, Chain Path, the Twined Increase. The cuff is decorated with different motifs, and a medallion motif is worked on the hand. It is assumed the knitter has not twined knitted before, so this pattern serves as a mini-class!

These cozy warm gloves have a matching hat: Twined Toasty Hat-  available as a pattern or as a kit.
