This pattern requires a fingering weight yarn, perfect for the range of sizes most women wear, but also includes 2 larger sizes for men. The knitting gauge and the needle size is determined by knitting a swatch, as is customary with this type of glove, though the range will probably land somewhere around US size 00 to 1 at 10 to 11.5 sts/inch.
This type of glove is a 19th-century Scottish tradition though I have filled in the design with not-so-traditional hearts! Due to the high gauge, the pattern is appropriate for advanced knitters or intrepid intermediate knitters.
