Twined Toasty Hat Pattern

$8.00

In Sweden, as long ago as the 17th century a form of knitting was practiced called tvåändsstickning, or two-end knitting. Using a strand from each end of a center-pull ball of yarn (wound of either one or two colors of yarn), the created fabric has great warmth, strength, and durability, as well as elasticity which approaches that of spandex! This technique takes some patience and effort to master, but will soon reward the tenacious knitter with ease, moderate speed, and lovely garments.

Description

This Twined Hat pattern includes many techniques, such as a Twined Knitting cast-on with photos, and numerous Technique Boxes:  Yarn Management, Twined Knitting, Twined Purling, the Basic Units of Design: the crook stitch, the “O” stitch, Chain Path, the Twined Increase.  In other words, it is assumed the knitter has not twined knitted before, so this pattern serves as a mini-class!  Directions, a glossary, and charts, are included using the traditional twined knitting symbols.

This cozy warm hat has matching items: Toasty Twined Gloves-  available as a pattern or as a kit; and Twined Fingerless Mitts- available as a pattern or as a kit.
