September 25 to October 6, 2025
In less than six months, I will be on my way to Italy for a 12-day tour with other knitters, starting in Milan (2 nights), then Chiavenna (5 nights), ending in Venice (4 nights). I am so excited! There are lots of fun activities and sight-seeing at every location. The group is not large which gives us all more opportunity to get to know each other and I can give more personal help with your knitting projects. This tour is open to non-knitters as well.
Please download the link to the brochure below for more information!
Milan
We will meet in Milan on September 25 at our hotel and will have our Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant. Milan, city, capital of Milano province and of the region of Lombard, northern Italy. It is the leading financial centre and the most prosperous manufacturing and commercial city of Italy. We’ll see monuments such as the Duomo Cathedral, and visit a designer in her studio.
Chiavenna
After breakfast on the third day, we will take a coach to Chiavenna, a charming town in northern Italy, which nestles in the Alps near the Swiss border. Known for its picturesque setting, it features cobblestone streets, historic stone buildings, and lush landscapes. The town offers rich cultural experiences, including ancient churches and traditional grottos. Chiavenna’s surrounding nature provides opportunities for hiking and exploring, making it a beloved destination for both history enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. While here we will go over the border into Switzerland to visit for a day, and on another day, we will have a cooking class! Use your free time to wander. I’ll teach a knitting class while we are here, but always I love to chat about knitting or to help you with any knitting problems you have.
Venice
We will head to Venice on the eighth day, to see the sights. Venice is the city, major seaport, and capital of both the province of Venezia and the region of Veneto, northern Italy. An island city, it was once the centre of a maritime republic. It was the greatest seaport in late medieval Europe and the continent’s commercial and cultural link to Asia. Venice is unique environmentally, architecturally, and historically, and in its days as a republic the city was styled la Serenissima, “the most serene” or “sublime”. One day, we will visit a lace museum on the island of Burano to see the lace-making. On October 5, the 11th night, we will have our group Farewell Dinner. And after breakfast the next day, we shall all depart for the US and our homes.
