I took a red eye home from Oregon after teaching for the Black Sheep Gathering in June, and that gave me a little more than 24 hours to prepare for my trip to Norway. I was exhausted! But all the same, I’m happy to report that the trip itself was great and I took a lot of pictures!
- In Schipol (Amsterdam airport) I saw this fabulous champagne restaurant, but I was in a hurry to catch my next light, so I sadly didn’t get to taste the wares.
- I arrived in Oslo. YAY!
- ArtInFloor1 In the floor in the Baggage area, was art! This blown glass piece looks like a fruit. My crummy photo does not convey how lovely it is.
- And here is an egg in a nest of spun glass.
- This is the view from their home- the Oslo Fjord.
- My friend, and prolific author and knitwear designer Tove Fevang met me at the airport and we had a lovely time at her house for a few days. (Her website is, of course, in Norwegian but you can get an idea of her scope, which includes almost 20 books! She designs knitting, quilting, embroidery, and crochet.) Here she is with her dear husband Geir, a talented photographer and computer whiz!
- We took a walk around town one day and saw lovely architecture…
- …and of course a yarn shop: Tjorven Garn!
- a flower lined pedestrian zone…
- The last night I was in Oslo, we took a boat ride across the fjord. Geir readied the boat for our trip…
- …to this wonderful restaurant on the other side. It was so much fun!
- This is a lovely lake near Oslo.
- The next day, Tove and I set out for a 5 hour journey south to Bygland in the Setesdal Valley.
- Along the way, we saw thousands of lupins by the side of the roadways.
- And finally we arrived in the Valley!
